Our mission is to ensure that after the tragedy of the 2007 California wildfires, our state does not suffer the further tragedies of displacement, economic dislocation, and exploitation that have followed in the wake of other natural disasters. Now that most of the California wildfires are coming under control, and many affected residents are returning home, we citizens are faced with the aftermath — and our fate is in our hands.

The focus of the government and the media will turn to issues of recovery, reconstruction, and financial effects of the wildfires. It is critically important that we, the citizens of California unite, speak out at once, and make it clear that the rebuilding of our communities shall NOT be done with illegal labor, it shall NOT be done outside the law, it shall NOT be done in the shadows, on the margins, or on the cheap. We will rebuild Southern California the American way, the right way, the lawful way.
